About

Since I was young, I have been exposed to art and music by my father, Jorge Gurvich, a major Argentinian film maker in Israel. I became passionate and curious to explore music and the drum set when I was 13, which eventually led me to be the youngest person and one of the two drummers accepted to the prestigious ‘Rimon Jazz Institute’ at the age of 16.

During these two years, I have studied performance, composition and arranging while completing my formal high school studies. I have also been performing regularly with multiple projects in a variety of genres all across Israel, and In 2013, I had the honor of sharing the stage with legendary saxophonist Phil Woods when he traveled to Israel.

Music has got me to many places. From performing at the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival (2013) and the Red Sea Jazz Festival (2014, 2015) to auditioning for Berklee College of Music. In 2016, I was humbled to receive a generous scholarship and decided to attend. Since I have arrived to Berklee, I have been exposed to endless amount of music from all kinds. I have also deepened my compositional skills and dived into the world of production and engineering. In June 2017 I went on tour in Asia with Abacus, a quintet formed here at Berklee and consists of four Berklee students/alumni. This project has been managed independently until recently when Berklee has offered to become a sponsor.

I graduated from Berklee Summa Cum Laude, majoring in Jazz Composition with a minor in Music Production & Engineering. I also received the Thelonius Monk and Fletcher Henderson Awards for outstanding musicianship, as well as the Avedis Zildjian Scholarship. Currently residing in Brooklyn, New York, where I continue to create music and participate in projects.
